BOCA RATON, Fla. - Alexander Gitin and Bianca Biglione have kept the hyphen in student-athlete as the Florida Atlantic University tennis players were named to their respective Conference USA All-Academic teams, as announced by the league on Tuesday.
Gitin played every position for the Owls in 2016 and had his best success at No. 4 singles, with a 3-3 record and 5-16 overall. He teamed with three doubles partners to tally a 6-8 doubles record. Off the court, Gitin is a biological science major and holds a 3.967 G.P.A. The sophomore has aspirations to continue his education in the medical field.

Biglione posted a 15-4 singles mark playing primarily at positions four and six where she combined for a 10-2 record. Academically, Biglione holds a perfect 4.0 G.P.A. as a biological science and psychology major and will continue her pursuit of her post-graduation goals to become a physician. Biglione has represented the Owls as a C-USA All-Conference selection, a league All-Academic selection and was named as an at-large Capital One All-Academic selection. She was a 2014-15 C-USA Spirit of Service Award winner and the 2014-15 FAU Female Student-Athlete of the Year.

Men's tennis will participate in the 2016 C-USA men's tennis championship in Houston, Texas hosted by Rice University April 22-24. Women's tennis will participate in the 2016 C-USA women's tennis championship hosted by Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro, Tenn. April 20-24.
