BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - (Feb. 6, 2016) -- A season-best performance from the line, combined with four players in double figures was not enough for the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team to overcome a relentless UAB team, as the Owls fell to the Blazers 104-67 on Saturday night.
The Turning Point
A Jesse Hill triple pulled the Owls (6-18, 4-7 Conference USA) to within 22-20 at the 8:32 mark of the first half. At that point, UAB (20-4, 10-1) went on a 33-5 run over the next 12 and a half minutes of game action to go up 55-25.
Notables
Marquan Botley scored a game high 16 points to go along with five assists.
Botley also made all nine of his free throw attempts, while Nick Rutherford went 7-for-7. As a team, the Owls went 19-for-21 from the charity stripe (90.5%). It's FAU's best mark as a team in a game since going 12-for-12 against FIU on March 6, 2014. However, UAB shot almost as well, going 19-for-22 (86.4%).
The 104 points were the most allowed by an FAU team since Dec. 19, 2006 (105, North Carolina).
