Men's Hoops Falls to Rival FIU 71-63

BOCA RATON, Fla. - (Feb. 27, 2016) -Once again, the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team rallied from a big second half deficit, but it came up just short, as the Owls fell to rival FIU 71-63 on Saturday.
The Turning Point
After trailing by as many as 19 in the second half, the Owls (7-22, 5-11 Conference USA) had the ball, trailing by six with 19 seconds left, but missed a three-pointer that would have cut the deficit in half. The Panthers (13-16, 7-9) grabbed the rebound and made a pair of free throws to provide the final score.
Notables
Nick Rutherford tied his career high with 16 points to lead FAU. He was joined in double figures by Adonis Filer and Solomon Poole with 10 each. Rutherford also added a game high five assists and five steals.
Filer and Ronald Delph had six rebounds each to lead the Owls.
Daviyon Draper (21 points, 13 rebounds) and Adrian Diaz (17 points, 10 rebounds) both had double-doubles for the Panthers. Donte McGill added 19 points.
The Owls were outrebounded 46-31 on the day.
