The Florida Atlantic University baseball team hosts LIU Brooklyn for its first homestand after opening its 2016 campaign with a 4-0 weekend at Mississippi State, knocking off the then-No. 11 Bulldogs in a pair of contests and defeating South Dakota State twice. Junior Esteban Puerta was named the Conference USA Hitter of the Week as the Owls posted 29 runs over the four games. Puerta hit .625 with eight RBI, two doubles and a home run.
LIU Brooklyn went 1-2 in the opening weekend on the road at Incarnate Word. The Blackbirds tallied five extra-base hits and stole nine bases, scoring 16 runs over three games.
