C-USA Championship Bracket for Women's Soccer Set; FAU Earns No. 4 Seed

IRVING, Texas- With the completion of two final matches on Sunday, the field of eight women's soccer teams for the 2016 Conference USA Championship has been set, and Florida Atlantic University is the No. 4 seed.
The Owls (10-7-2, 6-3-1 C-USA), by virtue of the 19 points they accrued during the regular season, edged out LA Tech by one point for the fourth slot. The Lady Techsters (14-5-1, 6-4-0) fell in their season finale on Sunday to the conference regular season champions, North Texas, and is the fifth seed. The quarterfinal matchup betwen these two teams will take place on Wednesday, in the second contest of the day, at 1:30 p.m. in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The advancing team will play in Friday's first semifinal at 4:30 p.m., against the winner of No. 1 North Texas and No. 8 Old Dominion (who clinched with a win on the season's final day). The championship match, to be shown on ESPN3, will take place on Sunday at 11 a.m. The remainder of the field - and the bottom half of the bracket - is made up of No. 2 Rice, No. 3 WKU, No. 6 (and host) Charlotte and No. 7 UTEP.
The Owls and Lady Techsters did not meet this regular season, and have split matches the only two times they have paired off. In Boca Raton in 2015, FAU took a 2-0 victory; the year prior, also in Boca, saw LA Tech win in a 1-0 overtime affair.
