BOCA RATON, Fla. â€" The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team (0-2-1) fell 2-1 to Fairfield University (1-1-2) on Sunday despite a second half goal from David Adejunmobi.
The match was scoreless at the half despite six first half shots for each team. Adejunmobi broke the tie in the 69th minute when he headed in a Ronald Garcia corner kick to put the Owls up 1-0. FAU's advantage lasted less than 10 minutes before the Stags tied the match when Ben Wignall ended a scramble for the ball by beating FAU goalkeeper Josh Nolan to knot the score 1-1.
The Stags scored again in the 82nd minute to take a 2-1 lead. FAU threatened several times in the last several minutes, but were unable to tie the score.
Nolan had a total of three saves in the match.
The Owls will travel to Dekalb, Ill. to face Northern Illinois on Friday, Sept. 11 at 8 p.m. eastern.
