BOCA RATON, Fla. â€" Florida Atlantic University Head Men's Golf Coach Angelo Sands has announced the 2015-16 men's golf schedule, which features the eighth annual FAU Slomin Autism Championship on March 25-27 at the Fountains Country Club in Lake Worth, Fla.
"I look forward to the challenges that this year's schedule will bring and have designed it in hopes that it will prepare the team for the conference championship," said Sands. "We have a strong core of returners, recruits, and walk-ons who should be able to step in and make an impact right away."
The Owls will open the season at Houston Baptist on Sept. 21-22. The team will then take a short break before heading to Bowling Green, Ky. for the Kenny Perry Invitational hosted by WKU on Oct. 11-13. At the end of the month will be the Homewood/Hilton Garden Airport and FGCU Classic at the Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero, Fla. on Oct. 26-27.
Spring competition will begin at The Legacy Intercollegiate hosted by Stetson on Feb. 29 through March 1 in Lake Mary, Fla. The squad will remain in Florida as they compete in back-to-back-to-back tournaments including the Gary Freeman Spring Invitational on March 3-4, Long Island Invitational on March 7-8 and the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular on March 12-13.
The eighth annual FAU Slomin Autism Championship will be held on March 25-27 for the fifth year at the Fountains Country Club in Lake Worth. The Owls will play host to 19 teams, which includes two-time reigning champion UCF, 2015 Sun Belt Champion Georgia Southern and many more.
"We are thrilled that once again we can host the FAU Slomin Autism Championship and bring down so many great teams from around the country," said Sands. "We are very grateful that the Slomin Family Center for Autism and Related Disabilities and our program can continue supporting one another."
The final regular season tournament will be the Arkansas State Red Wolf Intercollegiate on April 4-5 in Jonesboro, Ark. The Conference USA Men's Golf Championship will again be held in Texarkana, Ark. on April 24-27. If eligible, the NCAA Men's Golf Championship will take place on May 27 through June 1 in Eugene, Ore.
