BOCA RATON, Fla. -
Florida Atlantic University women's golfers Emily Peters and Yumi Fujii were named All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association as announced Monday.
The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative grade point average is 3.50.
"I'm very proud of Emily and Yumi for all their hard work and deep commitment to their responsibilities as both a student and an athlete," said Kathy Baker-Guadagnino, head women's golf coach.
Peters was named to the Dean's List for fall 2014 and fall 2012. The junior is a two-time C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member. She is an architecture major with a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.67. In 2014-15, she had her best finish at the Lady Falcon Invitational tying for 36th. Peters put up a season-low round of 77 at the Jacksonville University Classic and had an 88.76 scoring average this season.
Fujii was named to the 2014-15 C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. She is an English education major with a 3.79 cumulative G.P.A. She saw her first appearance of the 2014-15 season playing as an individual in the 37th Annual Pat Bradley Invitational. She shot a season-low round of 80 at the Bearcat Spring Classic and Conference USA Championship where she finished 53rd. The sophomore had a stroke average of 86.64 for the season.
As a team, women's golf received the NCAA Public Recognition Award in May for having an Academic Progress Rate in the top 10 percent in the nation. Both Peters and Fujii also were named to FAU's Spring 3.0+ List.
