Women's tennis player Bianca Biglione has been honored as a recipient of the Conference USA Spring Spirit of Service Award as announced by C-USA Commissioner Britton Banowsky on Wednesday.
All-Conference USA second-team singles honoree, Biglione was dominant for the Owls this season but also committed to important activities off the court. Her time away from tennis was spent helping to teach the PAL tennis practices for younger kids at the Boca Raton Police Athletic League, assisting in the Chris Evert charity event and reading books to elementary students at numerous Palm Beach schools.
The sophomore also was flawless in the classroom with a 4.0 GPA in biological science and psychology to receive C-USA All-Academic and Capital One Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team honors. She is a two-time C-USA Honor Roll member and has been named to the FAU 3.0+ List, Dean's List, and President's List every semester while at FAU. She also was named the Female Student-Athlete of the Year by the University, last April.
On the court, Biglione appeared in all 17 matches for the Owls, finishing the regular season with a 13-2 singles mark. Her team-leading 13 wins this season included an eight-match win streak. Biglione lost just six games in her last four wins and won four matches this season with one or less games surrendered.
The C-USA Spirit of Service Award is designed to recognize the community service efforts of the league's student-athletes, based upon significant community service, good academic standing and participation in their elected sport. The Spirit of Service award is presented three times throughout the season, with today's honorees representing Conference USA's spring sports: baseball, men's and women's golf, softball, men's and women's tennis, and men's and women's outdoor track and field.
