BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic women's tennis took on Conference USA foe Western Kentucky on Sunday, losing 5-2. The loss snaps a three match winning streak for the Owls and is FAU's first conference loss on the season.
FAU fought hard but dropped the doubles point early in the match. Despite being down the Owls scored two points in the number five and number six positions. FAU freshman Marisa Ruiz defeated Gabby Crofford 6-1, 6-2 for her sixth win on the season and her fourth consecutive win. FAU sophomore Bianca Biglione defeated Madeline Phillips 6-0, 6-1 for improving to 8-1 on the season and her fifth consecutive win. Biglione and Ruiz are one and two respectively in wins for the Owls.
FAU returns to action tomorrow with a double header at home against Jackson State and ETSU. The first match begins at 10 a.m. against Jackson State, followed by ETSU at 4 p.m. All home matches are played at Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton.
