Florida Atlantic University softball's Kylee Hanson and men's golfer Derron Peyton were chosen as FAU Players of the Week after solid outings on the field and on the course last weekend.
Hanson was dominant in her only appearance of the week. She threw a complete game in the Owls' 5-1 win over FIU on Saturday. Hanson struck out a career high 15 batters, walked only two and allowed just one run in the game. For the season, she has a team best 10-2 record with 103 strikeouts in just 83 innings pitched.
In the seventh annual FAU Slomin Autism Championship, Peyton tied for second out of more than 100 golfers. In both the first and second round, the junior led the Owls with two outstanding performances. He was in first place at the end of round one after shooting a season-low 67, which included four birdies. He ended round two in second place with a stroke count of 69 with seven birdies. Peyton shot a 75 in round three to end with a tournament total of 211.
Softball will face Conference USA opponent Western Kentucky beginning with a doubleheader on Friday, April 3 at 5 p.m. ET in Bowling Green, Ky. Live stats will be available via Gametracker on fausports.com. Men's golf will head to Jonesboro, Ark. to take part in the Red Wolves Intercollegiate hosted by Arkansas State on April 4-5.
