Sand Volleyball Sweeps Florida Gulf Coast 5-0

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University sand volleyball team swept Florida Gulf Coast 5-0 on Tuesday. The match was played at Deerfield Beach.
The matches at both nos. 4 and 5 went three sets. At no. 4 Andrea Galinis and Brittany Pellitteri had to rally from a set down to take the point, while Lexi Rhein and Gabriella Pyle nearly swept the FGCU duo on court five, but eventually took the decisive third set.
Delaney Clesen and Alyssa Warren (no. 3) and Chelsey Tekavec and Gabrielle Dischler (no. 2) both took comfortable straight set wins to clinch the match for the Owls. That left Beth Shoaff and Mandy McIntosh to try and complete the sweep on court one. With all the players and coaches from both teams looking on, Shoaff and McIntosh had to work overtime for the win, taking the third set 19-17.
The Owls will host Webber International in the final home match of the season. The match will take place at FAU's new on-campus sand volleyball courts at 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 26. Alyssa Warren and Mandy McIntosh will be recognized prior to the match.
