Upcoming Event: Women's XC/Track & Field versus Jimmy Carnes Invitational on January 16, 2026 at All Day

Florida Atlantic University track and field had an outstanding outing on the first day of the Miami Hurricane Invitational to open the outdoor season. Freshman Frida Thorsås set a new school record in the javelin and the team had seven runners break onto FAU's All-Time Top 10 List.
Thorsås claimed first in the javelin and set a new school record throwing for a distance of 41.21m, which eclipses the previous school record of 39.74m set by Ronja Siekmann in 2013. In the high jump, Ashley Stewart earned seventh with a height of 1.60m. This puts the junior fourth in this event on FAU's All-Time Top 10 List.
The Owls saw another great performance from freshman Amélie Svensson who took second in the 5k with a personal best time of 17:38.37, which is now fourth in school history. Sophie Walker followed in fourth (17:53.64) and is now seventh all-time at FAU. Clare Brinkman took sixth with a personal best time of 18:19.61. The following runners also set career best times in the 5k: Kia Heller-Spencer (18:30.95), Christina Schultz (19:14.01), Carydaliz Fontanez (19:24.43), and Nathaly Gallego (19:32.53).
The University of Miami Hurricane Invitational features teams from Boston University, FIU, Colorado State, Nova Southeatern, Northwood, and Florida Gulf Coast, and more.
