BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic women's tennis beat Oakland University 6-1 on Friday in Orlando, FL to bring their record to 3-3 on the season. The match originally scheduled for play in Palm City, FL was moved to Orlando because of weather. The change of venue did not slow down FAU as they won the doubles point and easily closed out singles with six wins.

FAU took control early with FAU sophomore Lyndsey Boos and FAU senior Catalina Ene defeating Cam Sabourin and Camille Hemond-Hill 6-1. Oakland won the number two position and was leading in the number three position 5-1, before the FAU freshman duo of Marisa Ruiz and Jennifer Leib fought back to defeat Tamara Blum and Elizabeth Guy 7-6 to secure the doubles point.

"It was a phenomenal start to a promising doubles season for these two freshman," said FAU head coach Marcy Cava.

"I was very proud of how the ladies never gave up and stepped up for their doubles game to clinch the match for our team."

In singles Ene defeated Cam Sabourin 6-3, 6-2 and Boos defeated Tamara Blum 6-3, 6-1. Ruiz defeated Elizabeth Guy 6-0, 6-2 and Leib defeated Camille Hemond-Hill 6-2, 7-5. FAU sophomore Bianca Biglione defeated Juilana Guevara 6-3, 6-0 to get her team leading fourth singles victory.

FAU is back in action Saturday against UCF in Orlando, FL at 2 p.m.
