Sasha Cedeno Named Conference USA Freshman of the Week

IRVING, Texas - Florida Atlantic University forward Sasha Cedeno has been named the Conference USA Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week, as voted on by representatives from each of the league's schools.
The Spring, Texas native tied her career-high with 15 points in FAU's 71-68 victory over Charlotte on Thursday, Jan. 29. She hit a jumper late in the first half, capping off an 11-2 run to give FAU its first lead of the game. Ten of her points came in her first 13 minutes of the contest.
On Saturday, Cedeno scored four points in FAU's 72-44 loss against Old Dominion. She tallied eight rebounds and two steals during the weekend and recorded a block in each game.
FAU's Malia Kency was named the Freshman of the Week on Nov. 24 and Shaneese Bailey was named the Player of the Week on December 1.
The Owls (10-9, 4-4 C-USA) visit UTEP on Thursday, Feb. 5 and UTSA on Sunday, Feb. 8.
