Men's Basketball to Host North Texas and Rice

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team will host North Texas and Rice in games this week. North Texas visits FAU Arena on Thursday, followed by Rice on Saturday.
The Owls (8-15, 1-11 C-USA) lost both of their games last week, losing to Louisiana Tech 65-54 before falling to Southern Miss 62-54 last Saturday. FAU enters the week three games behind Charlotte for the final spot in the Conference USA Tournament. The 49ers also hold the tiebreaker over FAU.
North Texas (11-13, 5-7) comes to Boca Raton having swept its homestand last week, defeating UAB and Middle Tennessee. This will be the ninth consecutive season that the teams have met. The Mean Green won last year's meeting 78-76 in Boca Raton despite a career high 27 points from Justin Raffington.
Rice (9-15, 6-6) is on a three-game win streak, including back-to-back double overtime wins. Reigning C-USA Player of the Week Seth Gearhart averaged 21.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in the two wins. FAU defeated Rice 73-68 in Houston last season. Four FAU players scored in double-figures and Raffington added 12 rebounds for his fourth consecutive double-double.
Both games will tip-off at 7 p.m. Live video will be available on fausports.com. All FAU games will be carried on ESPN West Palm 106.3, which has an APP for the Smart Phone platform.
