RUSTON, La. - A late rally came up short as the Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team lost to Louisiana Tech 65-54 on Thursday night.
The Owls (8-14, 1-10 C-USA) trailed by as many as 17 in the second half before a 12-1 run cut the lead to six, 52-46, less than three minutes later. LA Tech (19-6, 10-2) held FAU to just one field goal over the next five plus minutes as part of a 9-2 rally to seal the win.
FAU outrebounded the Bulldogs 35-30 on the evening. Jackson Trapp led all scorers with 17 points. Marquan Botley (14) and Justin Raffington (11) joined him in double-figures. Raffington added 12 rebounds for his 14th career double-double.
The Owls will travel to Southern Miss on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. Live audio of the game will be available on fausports.com. All FAU games will be carried on ESPN West Palm 106.3, which has an APP for the Smart Phone platform.
