Florida Atlantic University men and women's swimming and diving team hosted Marywood University, Northern Arizona University and Northwestern University on Saturday to mark the team's last home meet of the fall season.
The women started the meet off strong with a fourth place finish in the 100-medley relay (50:93). The team included Paulina Boeger, Hannah Roper, Kyleigh Firman, and Emily Summa.
Hannah Roper continued to perform well for the Owls claiming first place in the 50 breast (30.51) and the 100 breast (1:05.83). Paulina Boeger also had a strong meet for the lady Owls, claiming fifth in the 50 backstroke (28.94) and ninth overall in the 100 backstroke (1:02.75).
The men began the meet with a first place finish in the 100 medley relay (43.36). The team included John Brennock, John Nolte, Malachi Oakes, and Matthieu Burtez. The Owls also took second in this event with a final time of 45.96, this team consisted of Tucker Lewis, Ethan Amitay, Colin Kozak, and Bennett Bean.
Sophomore John Brennock stood out for the men today, claiming a first place finish in the 50 breast with a final time of 28.12. The Owls claimed the top five finishes as Amitay, Johnson, Custodio, and Burtez followed.
Another top performance on the men's side came from Colin Kozak. Kozak brought home a first place finish in the 100 Fly, finishing in 54.52. Kozak also finished second overall in the 100 free (49.64), just behind teammate Michael Rahrig who claimed first with a final time of 49.14.
Freshman Christian Pineiro had a strong performance today in the 500 free, finishing first overall with a final time of 4:55.20. Pineiro also finished tied for third in the 50 backstroke to teammate Cole Wisecarver (26.57).
The men claimed victory over Marywood (202-58). The women fell to Northwestern 207 to 49 and fell to NAU 175 to 81.
For their first meet of the spring season, swimming and diving will take part in the FIU Invitational on Sunday, January 3 in Miami, Fla.
