Owls Compete at Queen of the Beach Tournament

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team participated in the inaugural Queen of the Beach tournament over the weekend as part of the team's fall practice schedule.

After completing pool play, the teams advanced to the elimination portion of the competition. In the Silver bracket, Ashlan Cunningham and Julia Lewkowicz advanced to the finals before Florida State's Sierra Sanchez and Vanessa Freire nipped them 15-13 in the third set to win the match.

FAU was represented in both semifinal matches in the Gold bracket. Andie Galinis and Chelsey Tekavec lost their match, but Delaney Clesen and Gabrielle Dischler advanced to the finals. Clesen and Dischler fought gamely, but ultimately lost in the Gold bracket finals to another squad from Florida State.
