Final Results
Florida Atlantic University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed against Indian River State College on Friday evening. The Owls' claimed eight victories in the meet with strong performances from Agnes Bucz, Abbey King, Michael Rahrig, and Paulina Boeger.
Bucz hit the pad in the 200 yard free, 100 yard free and 200 yard IM recording two first place finishes out of the three events. She recorded a final time of 1:53.88 in the 200 free and 53:36 in the 100 free, both first place finishes. Bucz also recorded a second place finish in the 200 yard IM with a final time of 2:09.93.
King recorded wins in the both of her events she competed in while recording season best times in both. Bringing home the victories in the 1000 yard freestyle and the 500 yard freestyle finishing in 10:23.20 and 5:06.64, respectively. Teammate and freshman Paulina Boeger contributed to the victory for the Owls today. Boeger competed in the 200 medley, 100 backstroke, 200 backstroke, and 200 IM. Bringing home victories in 200 back (2:07.99), and a third place finish in the 100 back (59.32).
Freshman Michael Rahrig, Marco Leo and junior Laura Conoscenti claimed the Owls' remaining victories. Rahrig was able to claim a first place finish in the 200 fly, finishing in 1:53.77. He also claimed a second place finish in the 100 fly (52.35). Freshman Marco Leo was able to claim a victory in the 200 IM finishing with a final time of 1:54.96. Conoscenti finished first in the 200 fly (2:05.64) recording a season best time and was able to get another top three finish for the Owls in the 100 fly (59:51).
On the diving side of the meet, senior Ryan McIntire continued to shine as he was able to bring home two victories for the Owls. Winning both the 1 meter (310.80) and 3 meter (293.47) diving competitions. McIntire recorded a season best score in the 1 meter dive.
Other highlights from the meet came from two freshman. Christian Pineiro, swimming a season best in the 200 back as he finished second overall with a final time of 1:55.45. On the women's side, Lydia Musleh had a great meet, recording a second place finish just behind senior Bucz in the 100 free (53.57).
Collectively, the men's team secured 116 total points versus IRSC's 178, while FAU's women finished with 162 versus 138. The Owls will compete next at the Georgia Tech Invite on Thursday, Nov. 19-Saturday, Nov. 22.
