BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University Head Beach Volleyball Coach Capri Grotowski announced Alyssa Warren as a volunteer assistant coach. Warren joins the coaching staff after having played on the beach volleyball squad during the 2015 season.
"We are very lucky to bring Alyssa onto the coaching staff as our volunteer assistant," said Grotowski. "Her passion for the game and hunger for knowledge is going to take her far. She comes to us with a very strong background and I'm looking forward to her continued growth."
After starting the year as part of the No. 5 tandem, Warren eventually worked her way up to the No. 2 duo and finished the year with eight dual match wins, helping the team to a 9-6 dual match record, tripling the win total from the previous year, including wins over ninth-ranked Stetson and 14th-ranked Stanford.
Warren's experience as a volleyball player includes a brilliant career at Seton Hall University. A four year starter at libero and two-time captain, she was the first player in SHU history and just the fourth ever to be named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year twice. Warren was also a two-time All Big East Conference selection. The only player in school history with more than 2,000 career digs, Warren finished her career with the third highest total in NCAA history. Warren also played with USA Volleyball, as a member of the Junior and Senior A2 teams.
As a coach, Warren currently serves as the Sports Performance Beach Volleyball Program Director. She is also a Master Camp coach at Sports Performance Volleyball Club, specializing in first contact and defense.
Warren received her undergraduate degree in Marketing and Sport Management from Seton Hall, with a minor in Graphic Design and is currently working on her MBA in Entrepreneurship.
