Final Results
The Florida Atlantic University women's cross country team competed in the 5k at the Conference USA Championships on Saturday, with freshman Bethany Hardcastle coming in as the Owls' top finisher.
Hardcastle finished in 37th place out of 97runners with a final time of 18:57.3. Sophomore Liz Wellman was right behind the freshman, claiming 38th place with a final time of 18:58.7. Next in for the Owls was Clare Brinkman who finished the race in 19:06.5, for 41st place.
Finishing just behind Brinkman was Kia Heller-Spencer, placing 43rd with a time of 19:09.1. Rounding out the FAU's runners were Christina Schultz, Jasmine VanTine, Sophia Clark, Carydaliz Fontanez, and Johanna Freeman.
Personal bests were achieved by Bethany Hardcastle and Jasmine VanTine. The Owls finished in 10th place with 219 total points with a total time of 1:36.01.
"Similar to our men's team, we didn't quite accomplished what we had set as our goal, however, I am delighted how our very young group has bought into our team culture! We have the foundation, and determination to continue to improve!" Said Cross Country Head Coach Alex Smolka.
The women will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the NCAA South Region Championships on Friday, Nov. 13 beginning at 9 a.m
