BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team fell to No. 22 WKU in three sets (25-18, 25-12, 25-20) on Sunday.
Kristina Rankovic led FAU (15-8, 7-4 Conference USA) with eight kills, and the Owls hit just .060 as a team, due in large part to 47 digs by WKU. Gabriela Martin led FAU with a .385 attack percentage, but was the only FAU player to hit over .300.
The Lady Toppers (23-2, 10-0) got out to a quick 7-2 lead in the first set, and the Owls could never pull even in a set that WKU won 25-18. WKU got out to another quick start in the second set, scoring the first seven points on its way to a 25-12 win.
The third set started better for the Owls as they took a 7-1 lead, but the Lady Toppers rallied to tie the score at 10. The score would be tied four more times before WKU scored three straight points to build a lead they would never surrender.
FAU returns to Boca Raton on Friday, Oct. 30 when they host UTSA. Match time is set for 7 p.m. Live stats and live video will be available at fausports.com. In-game updates will be available at twitter.com/FAUVolleyball. For tickets, contact the FAU Ticket Office at 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
