MURFREESBORO, Tenn. â€" Maja Ristic had a match high 17 kills in the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team's sweep of Middle Tennessee (25-15, 25-16, 25-18) on Sunday. The win is FAU's fifth in a row and six in its last seven matches.
Kristina Rankovic's nine digs tied for the most in the match, while Abbi Reid's six block assists led all players. The Owls defense, which has been a strength all season, held the Blue Raiders to a .154 hitting percentage.
The first set was tight early, but FAU went on a 7-1 run to take a 15-7 lead on its way to a 25-15 win. FAU held Middle Tennessee to a .054 attack percentage in the second set and had a 9-1 run en route to a 25-16 victory.
After the intermission, the Owls raced out to an early 7-3 lead, but the Blue Raiders managed to tie the score at 10. FAU responded with a 6-1 run to regain control and eventually clinched the match with a 25-18 triumph. The victory improved FAU's record to 14-6 overall and 6-2 in C-USA play, while Middle Tennessee fell to 5-17 and 3-5.
