The Florida Atlantic University men's golf team completed 36 holes on day one of the WKU/Kenny Perry Invitational, on Monday. The 54-hole event is being held at The Club at Oldestone in Bowling Green, Ky. The Owls finished the first round in 10th place with a team total of 610.
The par 72, 7,319 yard course welcomed 12 collegiate teams including Jacksonville State, Morehead State, Eastern Kentucky, Tennessee Tech, Marshall, and Memphis.
Junior Cody Christensen is leading the Owls tied for 10th, after shooting 75 in round one and 71 in round two. Christensen had a good showing in the first two rounds with eight birdies.
Senior Derron Peyton followed Christensen tying for 12th, carding rounds of 76 and 71. Derron demonstrated composure in the second round, where he was able to knock down three birdie putts and advance 15 spots in the rankings.
Pablo Gerboles-Parrilla was FAU's next finisher coming in tied for 29th after shooting a 77 and 75 in the first two rounds, respectively. Parrilla shot four birdies on the day.
Rounding out FAU's competitors were two freshmen Yuki Fujii, tied for 63rd, and Jackson Shoenfelt, finishing day one in 65th place.
The final 18 holes will begin with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14. Live scoring for the event will be available via Golf Stat ( Click Here)
