Owls host UNC-Wilmington in Final Non-Conference Bout

BOCA RATON, Fla. - After more than a week off, the Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team returns to action on Monday, Dec. 29 as the Owls host UNC-Wilmington at FAU Arena. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
The Owls (5-5) will look to snap a three-game losing streak and gain momentum with a victory in their final non-conference game of the year. Junior newcomer Ali Gorrell leads FAU with 17.6 points per game and recorded her first two career double-doubles at the Beach Classic at Long Beach State last weekend.
UNCW (4-5) suffered five consecutive losses before picking up wins against East Tennessee State and Charleston Southern in its Christmas Invitational last week. Eight of the Seahawks' nine games have been decided by 14 points or fewer.
Kelva Atkins leads UNCW with 19.2 points per game and averages 6.9 rebounds per contest. Nearly one third of her points (54) have come from the free throw line.
FAU defeated UNCW 81-64 in Wilmington last season. Aaliyah Dotson scored seven points while Kat Wright and Shaneese Bailey tacked on three each in the victory.
