BOCA RATON, Fla. - Seven newcomers saw action for the Florida Atlantic University women's basketball team on Sunday as the Owls defeated cross-town foe Lynn University 94-64 in an exhibition game.
Freshman Malia Kency led the way for the newcomers with 18 points, including four 3-pointers. Sophomore Shaneese Bailey earned a double-double early in the second half with 22 points and 11 rebounds.
Ali Gorrell, Morgan Robinson and Sasha Cedeno also reached double-digit scoring numbers.
Freshmen Danneal Ford, Raven Doyle, Lauren Williams and Melinda Myers all saw substantial action in their first game with the Owls.
After Lynn opened the game with a 3-pointer, FAU quickly resumed control of the game and took a 45-25 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Owls increased their lead to as many as 34 points in the second half.
FAU opens its regular season on Friday, Nov. 14 at UCF and Sunday, Nov. 16 at Bethune Cookman. Live audio broadcasts will be available on FAUSports.com.
