BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team will travel to Marshall and Southern Miss for a pivotal road trip this weekend. The Owls (17-9, 8-5 C-USA) went 2-1 in their three matches last week and clinched a spot in the upcoming C-USA tournament.
Genesis Viera was named C-USA Setter of the Week for her performance in the three matches. FAU is currently tied with North Texas for fifth place in the conference standings, although the Owls could finish as high as third place.
Marshall (13-14, 7-5) sits in seventh place, half a game behind FAU. The Thundering Herd will come into Friday's match on a three-match winning streak. Marshall won last season's meeting in five sets, despite a then career high 16 kills from Katarina Stepanovic. The match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
Southern Miss (19-10, 8-4) is half a game in front of the Owls, in fourth place. The Golden Eagles have won four of their last five matches since losing to FAU in Boca Raton on Oct. 17. The Sunday match will start at 1 p.m.
