BOCA RATON, Fla. - Florida Atlantic University women's soccer standout Claire Emslie has been named to the Conference USA All-Academic First Team for the second consecutive year, as announced today by the conference office.
The Scotland native boasts a 3.93 GPA in exercise science and earned the C-USA Commissioner's Medal in 2013. She also led the Owls in scoring and assists in 2014 and was named to the All-Conference Second Team on Nov. 4.
"This is tremendous recognition for Claire because she works hard on the field, but even harder in the classroom," said Patrick Baker, FAU head soccer coach. "You can excel at both and she proves that to her coaches and teammates every day. Claire strives to be the best and represents the true definition of a student-athlete."
As a junior, Emslie ranks seventh all-time in goals with 22 and needs six more to tie the record of 28 that hasn't been eclipsed in more than 20 years.
"We are as proud of her academic accomplishments as much as we are her soccer accolades," Baker said. "She is a pleasure to have on our team, represents the program in a first-class fashion and leads by example every day."
