BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic volleyball team lost to Rice in straight sets (25-18, 25-21, 27-25) on Sunday. FAU falls 17-9 and 8-5 in C-USA play, while Rice improved to 20-6 overall and 10-2 in conference play.

Rice used an 8-1 run to end the first set, taking a 25-18 win. Katarina Stepanovic was flawless (4-0-4) in the frame for FAU.

Rice grabbed the early advantage in the second set, but FAU wouldn't go away, and rallied to take the lead. The two sides went back and forth for the next several points. A Stepanovic kill pulled FAU to within a single point at 18-17, but Rice pulled away down the stretch and took a two sets to none lead.

FAU established early control in the third set, but Rice eventually fought back to tie the score at 16. There were seven more ties in the frame, the final one coming at 25. Back-to-back FAU errors ended the match.

Brittney Brown led FAU with 12 kills, while Stepanovic added 11. FAU will travel to Marshall and Southern Miss next weekend.
