BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University Volleyball team faces a critical stretch of the season with three home matches this week. The Owls will play FIU on Wednesday, Oct. 29 before hosting Charlotte on Friday, Oct. 31, and Rice on Sunday, Nov. 2.
The Owls (15-8, 6-4 C-USA) are coming off back-to-back losses to North Texas and Western Kentucky. FAU is currently in fifth place in the Conference USA standings and can clinch a spot in the conference tournament with a sweep of the week.
A pair of rematches from earlier this season will take place on this week. FIU (6-17, 3-7) lost to the Owls in four sets on Sept. 17. It was FAU's first road win in Miami since 2005. Charlotte will be the Owls' opponent on Friday. FAU beat the 49ers (13-15, 2-9) in four sets when the two teams met earlier this season.
Rice (18-6, 8-2) comes to FAU Arena on Sunday. The Texas version of the Owls won last season's meeting 3-1 in Boca Raton despite 16 kills from Ivana Bulajic. Rice entered the week in third place in the C-USA standings, two games ahead of FAU.
Wednesday's and Friday's matches will begin at 7 p.m., while Sunday's match will start at noon. Live stats and live video for all three matches will be available at fausports.com.
