A 4-0 run gave the Owls (15-7, 6-3 C-USA) a 13-10 lead in the first set. North Texas rallied to tie the score at 17, but another FAU run made the score 22-18 in favor of the Owls. The Mean Green cut the lead to a single point at 24-23, but a Brittney Brown kill sealed the win for FAU.
It was North Texas' turn to break a tie by way of a scoring run in the second set. Four straight Mean Green points gave them a 13-9 lead. Similar to the first set, a rally knotted the score at 17. Three straight Amanda Chamberlain kills helped North Texas take a 23-19 lead. FAU rallied to cut the margin to 24-23, but a Mean Green kill ended the rally.
After an early tug of war in the third set, the Mean Green blitzed their way to a 20-9 lead, eventually winning the set 25-17. The fourth set was close the entire way, with 17 ties and eight lead changes. The final tie came at 21, before four straight North Texas points ended the match.
The loss snapped a three-match winning streak for the Owls. They will travel to Western Kentucky to face the Hilltoppers at 1 p.m. eastern on Sunday. Links to live stats and video will be available at fausports.com.
