BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's basketball team will make its first Conference USA road trip this week with games at Louisiana Tech and Rice. Both games will be FAU's first meeting with the opponents and both will be carried on ESPN 106.3 FM and www.fausports.com.
FAU (4-10) defeated Warner 81-47 on New Year's Day, behind Justin Raffington's second consecutive double-double (15 points, 11 rebounds). Marquan Botley added 17 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Louisiana Tech enters the contest as the best team in C-USA with a record of 13-2. The Bulldogs' only losses were to St. Mary's in La. Tech's season opener and to in-state rival Louisiana-Lafayette on Dec. 4. The Bulldogs are C-USA's highest scoring offense, averaging 86.1 points per game, including a school record 126 in a 74-point romp over Longwood in their last game. 12 of their 13 wins have been by double-digit margins. Thursday's game starts at 7:30 p.m. eastern.On Saturday, FAU will face Rice. The Rice Owls (5-8) enter the week on a three-game losing streak and will host FIU on Thursday night. Saturday's game is slated for an 8 p.m. eastern tip-off.
