BOCA RATON, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team held the University of Arizona scoreless through 79 minutes of play Sunday afternoon before the Wildcats (2-0) got on the board to take the 1-0 victory.
Twenty-two players saw action for the Owls, who fell to 0-2 on the year.
Less than a minute after entering the game in the second half, Jazmin Ponce drove in the goal off of an inbounds pass from Jaden Degracie in the 80th minute.
The Owls took five shots on the day, with Marisa Russo and Taylor Sorrels recording shots on goal. Senior Courtney Zwetsch made two saves as the Wildcats took 13 shots in the match.
FAU returns to the pitch Friday against Davidson in a tournament at Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Fla.
