BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic volleyball team lost to Arkansas State in four sets on Friday night.
The first set was a tense affair as the two teams fought to seize momentum, as they would throughout the night. An Alessia Pizzocheri kill sealed the first set win for the Owls. Set two was a tug of war all the way through, evidenced by the 16 ties in the set. FAU led 22-21 when the Red Wolves scored four straight points to take the set and tie the match.
Cintia Nightingale's strong serving put the Owls ahead by two late in the third set, but ASU rallied to take the lead. FAU was able to withstand two ASU set points, but the Red Wolves converted on their third opportunity and won the set 29-27 to take a two set to one lead.
A huge surge by the Red Wolves midway through the third set allowed them to take control of the set on their way to the win.
FAU will return to the court on Sunday, September 23 when UALR comes to the Burrow. The match starts at 1:00 p.m.
