DELAND, FL - Airik Medinis' eighth place finish helped the Florida Atlantic University men's golf team to a fifth place finish at the 2012 Hatters Classic.
Derron Peyton was the team's lowman for the day, shooting a four under par 68, a 10 stroke improvement from his day two score. The tightly packed field meant Peyton (222) finished the tournament in 15th, despite taking just two more strokes than Medinis (220).
Bradford Kidd finished tied for 19th with a three-day total of 224. Clint Wilhelm had an 80 Tuesday and 232 overall to tie for 28th with teammate Frank Berzanskis. At 895, the Owls took fifth place by 14 strokes over Lipscomb. UCF won the tournament with a combined score of six over par 870. UCF's Ricardo Gouveia won the tournament in a three way playoff with Adam Goins of USC-Upstate and Leon Fricker of BCU.
The team has concluded its fall schedule and will return to the links in February to begin its spring schedule.
