STARKVILLE, MS - The Florida Atlantic men's basketball team lost to Mississippi State 78-58 on Tuesday night.
The Owls (0-2) fell behind 8-2 early in the game, but scored six points in a row to tie the score at 8. FAU stayed close for the next several minutes until a 22-6 Bulldog (1-1) run gave MSU a 40-22 lead.
FAU had managed to cut the margin to a dozen at 50-38 early in the second half, but a 23-5 MSU run sealed the game. Greg Gantt (17) and Cavon Baker (11) were the only Owls in double figures. Dragan Sekelja had a game-high nine rebounds.
FAU will continue action in the EA Sports Maui Invitational on Saturday when they play Coppin State at Elon in one of the Regional Games.
