BOCA RATON, FL - Junior Darija Sataric led the way with 10 kills in the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team's sweep (25-15, 25-13, 25-14) of Holy Cross on Monday night.
Sataric finished with a season high .625 hitting percentage, going errorless in her 16 attempts. She also had a pair of block assists. Every FAU player appeared in the match, and eight Owls recorded at least one kill. The Owls hit .376 as a team, their second best hitting performance of the season.
Alessia Pizzocheri narrowly missed her ninth double-double of the season, tallying 12 digs to go along with nine kills. Nightingale once again led the Owls in digs with 17 on the night. FAU (6-11) led 10-4 in first set before the Crusaders (1-17) pulled to within two. Four straight Owl point regained control of the set and a 6-2 run late put FAU ahead 1-0.
The Owls scored the first four points of the second set and were never seriously threatened on their way to a 25-13 win. Chandler Hatton, Thacilli Pereira and Sara Stoll all had three kills in the frame.
Set number three was tied at 3-3 when Nightingale served FAU to a six point lead. The Owls never relinquished the advantage and an Isabelle Arboleda kill put the match away for FAU.
A four match road swing is up next for the Owls, starting Friday night at Middle Tennessee. The match starts at 8 p.m. eastern.
