Cross Country Competes at SBC Championship

BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Florida Atlantic men's and women's cross country teams both placed two runners in the top 50 in Saturday's Sun Belt Conference Championship.
Freshman Chloe Sell was the top finisher for the day, placing 33rd on the women's side. She ran a new PR on Saturday in the 5K, at 19:27.90, more than 45 seconds faster than her previous best. Right behind her, in 37th place, was sophomore Tara Cripe. She was 11 seconds ahead of her career best, at 19:36.80.
For the men, Eric Kessler led the pack at 43rd overall in the 8K event held at Kereiakes Park, crossing the line at 27:19.8. Four slots behind him was Hunter Wampler, at 27:30.60.
Also setting new PR's on the day were Charles Skord (29:04.80, 12 seconds faster), Emily Olsen (20:11.40, 16 seconds faster) and Katey CoDyre (20:26.40, four seconds faster).
Georgia State won the team and individual trophies for the women, led by Katherine Showalter at 17:41.10. FAU finished ninth. For the men, Arkansas-Little Rock was the team winner, with the Owls taking 11th place, while Western Kentucky's Joseph Chebet's 24:46.70 was the fastest 8K time.

Women (5K): Sell (33rd, 19:27.90), Cripe (36th, 19:36.80), Megan Bary (52nd, 20:09.80), Olsen (55th, 20:11.40), CoDyre (58th, 20:26.40), Hannah Neustadt (62nd, 20:41.00), Kimberly Jones (64th, 20:50.80), Helen Mann (73rd, 21:49.00)
The two teams wrap up the 2012 cross country season in two weeks at the NCAA South Regional Meet, which takes place on Friday, November 9, in Tallahassee.
