BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic volleyball team opened its home schedule with a tough three set loss (27-25, 25-21, 25-20) to Tulane on Thursday.
The Owls (0-4) had two set points in the first frame, but the Green Wave held them off and eventually overtook FAU to gain a 1-0 advantage. The second set followed a similar pattern as the Owls held an 18-16 lead late, but Tulane closed on a 9-3 run to go ahead two sets to none.
In the third set, FAU fell into a three point hole early in the set, but managed to tie the score on four separate occasions before eventually falling 25-20 to end the match.
Sara Stoll had five kills and a career high eight blocks in the loss. Thacilli Pereira tied for the match high with nine kills. The Owls travel to Orlando to play in this weekend's Residence Inn/UCF Invitational. They face Pitt and UNC-Greensboro on Friday as part of the tournament and links to UCF's tournament central page, including live stats can be found here.
