Women's Cross Country Takes Fifth Place

GAINESVILLE, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's cross country teams traveled to Gainesville this past weekend to compete in the UF Mountain Dew Invitational.
Capturing a 13th place finish overall and a first place finish for the Owls Rebecca Hallam ran the women's 5K in a time of 18:11.86. Not far behind, Michelle Jax finished 20th overall and second for FAU with a time of 18:26.15. Deanna Loafman finished third for the Owls with a new PR time of 19:13.43, Stacy Paton (19:40.50) finished 48th overall and Charlene Luxama (19:46.73) came across the finish line next. Rounding out the invitational for FAU was Megan Bary (19:53.25), Paige Lawton (new PR 20:10.56), Helen Mann (20:36.39), Tara Cripe (20:45.42)and Chelsea Connor (20:57.16). Sarah Veazy (21:25.28), Rebecca Fanali (21:26.43), Vanessa Penates (21:51.73), Candice Patrick (22:13.55), Chelsea Lettiero (22:43.56) all also ran at the UF cross country meet to help the Owls to a fifth place finish out of 19 teams.
The men's team also did well in Gainesville. Finishing in 11th place out of 18 teams the Owls ran some strong times. Ryan Davis led the Owls in the 8K run with a time of 27:24.56 and a 55th place finish overall. Michael Vidal finished next with a time of 27:57.04, and a short time behind him was Michael Neel finishing with a time of 27:59.98. Also running for the men's team was Eric Kessler (28:26.11), Neil Coffman (28:54.37), Mohammad Razib (29:24.53), Adam Simon (29:38.88), Julian Gomez (30:23.01) and Hunter Taylor (31:17.18).
The next cross country meet for FAU is October 8, at the Disney Wide World of Sports Invitational in Orlando, FL.
