HARRISONBURG, VA - The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team fell 1-0 to host James Madison University on Friday night in the opening match of the James Madison University Tournament.
The Owls struggled offensively throughout the game, being out shot 19-8 by the Dukes. FAU produced seven corner kicks but it was unable to take advantage of any opportunities in front of the goal.
Jeremy Crumpton helped keep the game close by making four second-half saves.
James Madison, 1-0, got the game-winning goal from Dale Robins-Bailey in the 62nd minute of the match.
Darnell King had four shots on goal to pace the Owls' offense. Daniel Mendes recorded two shots, while Andre McCreath and Joachim Hansteen each had one shot.
FAU will take its' 1-1-1 record into Sunday's second tournament game against St. Bonaventure, starting at noon. The Bonnies, 1-2, defeated UNC Asheville 1-0 on Friday for their first victory of the season.
