Women's Tennis Drops Home Match to College of Charleston

Boca Raton, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team began its spring break week by falling 6-1 at home against the College of Charleston on Monday afternoon at Patch Reef Park in Boca Raton. The Owls are now 2-9 on the season.
Sophomore Natasha Phillips provided the team's lone point with a victory at No. 6 singles. The Boca Raton native held off a late charge to win a three-set match by 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (5) scores. The victory improved her singles record to 7-4 on the season.
Phillips was on losing side of a tiebreaker in doubles action with junior Justine Humair at the No. 3 position. The team suffered a hard-fought 8-7 setback.
Sophomore Marlene Ryan dropped a three-set match at No. 2 singles, also losing a third-set tiebreaker. The Delray Beach native won the second set 6-4 before losing in the tiebreaker, 10-5.
FAU returns to the park on Wednesday, March 9, when it battles Southern Illinois University, starting at 2 p.m.
