BOCA RATON, FL- Florida Atlantic men's golf team improved their collective score by 16 strokes to help the Owls move up a spot from Friday to place 14th at the end of round two on Saturday. FAU ended the day with a score of 291 and a total of 597 after the two rounds.
Arkansas continues to claim the top spot with a four under par score of 564, but Florida State lingers closely behind by only a three stroke difference with a one under par team score of 567.
Kelly McHugh took the lead for the Owls on the second day enhancing his score by four strokes from the previous day. Jumping up eight spots to 29th place, McHugh shot an even 71. After day two of the event he has a combined total of 146.
Michael Baskovich helped the Owls on Saturday by improving his score by 12 strokes and leaped 23 spots to 65th place. Baskovich had the best round for FAU so far in this event with 70. Friday he shot 82 to give him 152 for both days.
Also moving up in the individual rankings, Clint Wilhelm is in 71st place trailing teammate Baskovich after the second round by one stroke with 153 (79, 74). Justin Thompson (154- 74, 80) and Casey Matthews (155- 79, 76) slip in the rankings and look to improve on the final day of the Seminole Intercollegiate.
FAU will play their third round and final 18 holes Sunday morning, teeing off at 8:30 a.m.
