DeLand, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team fell to 1-3 on the season with a 7-0 loss at in-state opponent Stetson University on Sunday afternoon in DeLand, Fla.

The Owls' lone victory on the afternoon came at No. 3 doubles when the duo of junior Erika Mrazkova and sophomore Natasha Phillips won 8-6 over the tandem from the Hatters. However, that wasn't good enough to earn a team point in the match.

In singles, junior Justine Humair lost a hard fought three-set match at the top of the lineup. She could not hold on after winning the opening set 6-3. Freshman Marlene Ryan also dropped a three-set match at No. 3 singles. The Delray Beach native forced the deciding third set by winning the second frame by a 6-3 score. She lost the deciding third set 6-4.

FAU returns to the court for its home opener on Saturday, February 12, with a battle against Florida Gulf Coast University at Patch Reef Park, 1200 Yamato Road in Boca Raton.
