BOCA RATON, FL - Elisabetta Bertini led Florida Atlantic University's women's golf team to a tournament championship at the Bethune-Cookman University Invitational. The squad turned in a three-day 935 team total on the par 72 course.
Bertinini stood second after day one and held firm at that position shooting an 11 over 227 (75, 73, 79). Teammate Marilyne Cadieux posted a 229 (76, 79, 74) for a third place finish. Jennifer Norton moved up three spots for a fifth place finish (240 - 80, 81, 79) and the team score was completed by Brooke McBoyle who was tied for sixth (241 - 78, 84, 79).
FAU's Kayla DeSuza shot a 247 for 11th and Macy Madden Leen played as an independent and finished 18th.
FAU captured its first tournament of the spring competing against host Bethune, Savannah State, South Carolina State and Hampton. The Owls will next play March 11-12 in the EKU El Diablo Invitational in Citrus Springs, FL.
