Women's Tennis Drops Home Match to Louisiana

Boca Raton, Fla. - The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision against Sun Belt Conference opponent University of Louisiana on Sunday afternoon at Patch Reef Park.
The Owls picked up victories at the No. 4 and No. 5 singles positions. Senior Virginia Augustin earned a three-set win at No. 5 singles, while junior Cassie Bergeson also won in three sets. Both players dropped the opening set by identical 6-4 scores before rallying in their matches. Augustin won the second set 6-1 and picked up a 6-3 victory in the deciding third set. Bergeson won the last two sets by commanding 6-2, 6-1 scores.
Junior Erika Mrazkova lost a three-set match at No. 6 singles. After losing the opening set 6-0, the Czech Republic native rallied to force the deciding third set by a 6-4 score. However, her Ragin' Cajun opponent held off Mrazkova 7-5 in the final frame.
FAU stands 2-6 on the season and will return to the court on Wednesday, March 2, to battle Eastern Michigan University. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. from Patch Reef Park, 1200 Yamato Road in Boca Raton.
