LAWRENCE, KS - Despite a combined 34 points from its sophomore class, Florida Atlantic lost to #14 Kansas 77-54 on Wednesday night.
The Owls (3-5) started out quickly, taking a 9-3 lead less than four minutes into the contest. Kansas (4-2) outscored FAU 39-17 for the rest of the half, taking a 42-26 lead into the locker room.
FAU fought gamely throughout the second half, including 12 second half points from Mavin. However, the Jayhawks' size on the glass and in the paint proved too much for the Owls to overcome.
Dennis Mavin's 17 points was his season high, while Bertone's 17 points was a career-high, as was his 12 rebounds.
FAU will take time off for exams before hosting Warner Southern on December 10.
