Women's Tennis Drops Season Opener at Miami

Coral Gables, FL - The Florida Atlantic University women's tennis team dropped its season opener against the highest ranked opponent on the spring schedule, losing 7-0 to No. 12-ranked University of Miami on Friday afternoon in Coral Gables.
Sophomore Natasha Basma highlighted the Owls' singles play, losing a straight-set decision to nationally ranked Danielle Mills 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Basma also teamed with junior Erika Mrazkova at No. 2 doubles to fall to competitive 8-2 match to the Hurricanes' duo of Melissa Bolivar and Gabriela Mejia.
All three doubles matches were contested and ended in 8-2 losses.
FAU drops to 0-1 on the season and will return to the court on Wednesday, January 26, against Sun Belt Conference rival Florida International University in Miami, starting at noon.
