BOCA RATON, FL (September 1, 2010) - Florida Atlantic University's athletic department has introduced "FAU Sports Weekly", a new weekly show that highlights the successes by the Owls' athletic teams and student-athletes.
The show will be featured every Wednesday on the FAUSports.TV link (http://www.fausports.com/allaccess) through www.fausports.com.
Jared Smith, assistant director of athletic media relations and web development, hosts the weekly show. He will join coaches and student-athletes in recapping the previous week for FAU athletic teams, provide an interesting behind-the-scenes look at a team or student-athlete, and preview the week ahead in FAU sports.
The inaugural show, on September 1, examines the football scrimmage and campus bonfire that signified the start of football season.
The volleyball squad is featured after starting 3-0 on the season, and senior setter Joanna Marras Tate received the FAU Athlete of the Week Award - another new edition to the Florida Atlantic athletic department to recognize successful student-athletes.
FAU athletics will get into full swing on this Labor Day weekend with the football team beginning the season against UAB on Thursday, September 2 at 8 p.m.; the women's soccer team hosting a pair of matches beginning with Robert Morris University on Friday, September 3 at 7 p.m.; men's soccer beginning the regular season with a match at Jacksonville University on Friday, September 3 at 7 p.m.; and volleyball participating in the Stetson Invitational.
Fans can follow the success of FAU's fall sports teams this season on www.fausports.com.
